Current board
Lana de Bruijn (Chair)Hello! I’m Lana and have been a WSF member for 2 years. For my third year I would love to be more involved in the student farm, thus I only needed a short while to think about getting on the board. As a chair within WSF, I would like to make members enjoy their time on the field as much as I have done and still do. It is a great place to share ideas and to learn from each other and during workshops
that are organized throughout the year. After my Bachelor Horticulture and Business Management and a Master in Plant Sciences, I’m still very often amazed by things I didn’t know yet about plants and being part of WSF contributes greatly to this. Seeing the field changing throughout the seasons is such a pleasure, as for harvesting and eating the crops that we have grown ourselves. Ruben Mombarg (Field commissioner)Hi everyone, I’m Ruben and I’m currently the field commissioner here at WSF. Right now, I’m doing the MOA (master organic agriculture) and I write my thesis about alternative payment systems in CSA (community supported agriculture). I really like the practical side of farming, and you will probably see a smile on my face when I’m working at the field. Also interesting is that I grew up in Bennekom, the small village nextdoors!
As a field commissioner you have the possibility to become more active in WSF, seeing both the organisational side, but also to become closer and more connected to the projects and the members! You can probably find me at a working session on Thursday, also when it’s rainy or very cold and windy. You can always come to me (or send me a message) if you have questions or new ideas about the farm, but also just to have a chat! See you Thursday :) Jade Blokhuis (Commissioner of Activities)
Hello there, I’m Jade and I’m the Commissioner of Activities. Currently, I’m in my second year of the bachelor Plant sciences and the field is a perfect place for me to experiment with things that I learn during my study and enjoy the plants in real life. Tomato is my favourite crop and I’ve been growing lots of tomato species by myself for a long time. The farm is an excellent place to continue this hobby. As a Commissioner of Activities I organize, besides the regular working sessions, workshops and other activities. My goal is to keep the farm the whole year round a nice place to meet people and to get inspired by each other. So if you have a nice idea for an activity or a interesting craft for a workshop, feel free to contact me!
Michiel van Bemmelen (Treasurer)Hi my name Michiel (25) and I am the Treasurer of Wageningen Student Farm, that means that I am dealing with the financial part of the Farm. Currently I am studying Geo-Information Science, a study that has almost nothing to do with gardening or any practical farming applications. Because the lack of these things in my studies, that was one of the reasons why I joined the Farm and why I like the Farm so much. Being outside, doing practical stuff and learning from others along the way is an honour. The other part that I like about the farm is the communal aspect of it, meeting new people and feeling at home there. The reason that I joined the Board is that I want to help the Farm stay being a wonderful place!

Ellen Hoekstra (Field Commissioner)Hello and welcome! My name is Ellen, and together with Zoé I am field commissioner of WSF. I grew up on a little farm somewhere in the middle of the French countryside, and that’s probably why I have always been at my happiest when outside. Next to the farm, I study Animal Sciences and am writing my thesis about agroecology, which is what I am really passionate about: where nature and farming meet.
Becoming field commissioner gives me the opportunity to be involved with WSF while making sure I spend as much time as possible on the field. WSF for me is that small corner of Wageningen where you can garden to your heart’s content, have the loveliest inspiring conversations, learn and grow (food) together with some of the nicest people around. It’s also the place you always leave feeling happier than when you arrived, whether frozen to the bones, soaked through, slightly sunburnt or muddy and with little cuts everywhere (the things we do for love, right?). So I hope to see you around on the field. Zoé & I are here for any conversations, questions, ideas or dreams you might have. Come & join us soon! Nikki van Roekel (Secretary)Hi everyone I am Nikki van Roekel (20) and the temporary secretary of WSF. Last year I was part of the board as well, only as a treasurer and the year before that as secretary. I enjoyed my time on the board so much that I decided to stay on. I currently study Animal Sciences, yes I know it is not the most popular study among the farm members, but besides animals I really enjoy being outside and joining the lovely community we have built. I joined the farm almost 3 years ago because I wanted to meet new people and that definitely worked out for me. It's just very relaxing to just play around in the dirt every once in a while to let your brain rest while in the meantime meeting super nice people! Then because I enjoyed the farm so much I joined the board because I wanted to be a bit more involved in the actual management of the farm, just getting a peek behind the curtains, and I have been enjoying it a lot so far! Feel free to contact me, I am almost always open for questions or just fun conversations 😊
Adele Galiegue (Commissioner of Communication)🌸Hello lovely people 🌸✨! I am Adèle (18) and the commissioner of communication for the coming year! I’m studying the BSc Environmental Sciences and joined WSF after months of hearing Ellen, my roommate and field commissioner, telling me how peaceful and resting the farm is. She was right, I met wonderful, mindful, open-minded people. When you are in the field, it’s as if you're untouched by time, the clock stops and you are just enjoying the sun and the fresh air. 🌞🌱During this board year, I would love to spread Wageningen the delight of being in the field. I’ll be the one asking to take pictures of you and posting a social media with plenty of ✨🌸🌻🍄. I am also managing the website and weel keep you updated about everything! Looking forward to meet you all and grow together 💚
